[noun] + 和 + [noun] [noun]、[noun] + 和 + [noun]
和 joins nouns. Two nouns, or the last two in a list.
The list separator is 、, not a comma.
This is the mistake to watch. English "and" links clauses freely; 和 does not. wǒ qù我去xué xiào学校hé和tā他qù去gōng sī公司 is wrong.
Two clauses are simply placed one after the other, or linked with 然后, 也 or 而且.
Before a verb, 和 marks the person you do something with, and 跟 does the same job more colloquially.
