[subject] + [verb phrase] + ,并且 + [verb phrase]
[clause] + ,并且 + [clause]
[subject] + [verb phrase] + 并 + [verb phrase]
并且 links two actions or two statements and adds the second to the first: "and also", "and moreover". It sounds more formal than 而且 and is common in writing, reports and speeches.
When both halves share a subject, 并且 goes straight before the second verb phrase, as in the examples above.
并且 joins verb phrases and clauses. Two nouns are joined with 和.
In writing, 并 alone does the same job between two verb phrases. It sits right before the second verb, with no comma.
而且 is the everyday "and also"; with 不但 it builds "not only … but also".
