另外【lìngwài】

另外 at the start of a sentence adds a further point to what has just been said: "in addition", "also", "one more thing". A comma usually follows it.

This use is common at the end of a talk or a message, to add a point you nearly forgot.

Another, the other

Before a number and a measure word, 另外 means "another" or "the other" of a group the listener already knows about.

The measure word stays. Without a number, 另外 takes 的 before the noun.

• × 另外人 → 另外一个人 / 另外的人

另外 or 别的

别的 is "other" in general, any others at all. 另外 picks out a particular other one, or the rest of a known set.

Before a verb

Right before a verb, 另外 means "separately" or "on top of that": doing something extra, apart from the usual.
