[subject] + 通过 + [noun]
通过 names the way a result came about: a person, a channel, an activity, an experience. The 通过 phrase goes at the start of the sentence or after the subject, and the result follows.
A verb phrase after 通过 gives English "by doing". It stays in front of the main verb.
通过 is for channels and processes. A vehicle takes 坐 or 骑, and a tool takes 用.
On its own as a verb, 通过 means passing an exam, a plan being approved, or going through or across a place.
