[verb] + (了) + [number] + 趟 / 顿 / 场 / 阵 + [noun]
[verb] + [pronoun] + [number] + 趟 / 顿 / 场 / 阵
次 counts how many times something happens. 趟, 顿, 场 and 阵 count it too, and also say what kind of occurrence it was. Like 次, they go after the verb.
趟 counts journeys, with 去, 来, 跑 or 回, and implies going and coming back.
顿 counts meals, and also bouts of scolding, which come all at once.
场 counts something that runs its course: a game, a film, a show, a downpour. For films, games and shows it is read chǎng; for rain, snow and other things that happen to you it is read cháng.
阵 is a burst that comes and goes: wind, rain, laughter, a busy patch.
A noun object follows the measure word: 吃了一顿饭. A pronoun comes before it: 说了他一顿. With 趟 a place can go either side: 去了一趟北京, 去北京一趟. The count never goes before the verb.
遍, for going through something from start to finish, belongs with 次 and has its own point.
