[subject] + 有所 + [two-syllable verb]
有所 goes before a two-syllable verb and says the action has happened to some extent – not fully, but noticeably. It's formal: reports, news, official statements. In conversation you'd say 提高了一些 or 有点儿不同.
Most of the verbs describe change – 提高, 下降, 增加, 减少, 改变, 变化, 好转. A few describe knowing or difference: 了解, 认识, 不同, 准备.
有所作为, "achieve something worthwhile", is a set phrase.
有所 needs a two-syllable verb after it, and it already carries the degree, so 很 or 非常 can't go in front.
