ばかりか is used to express "not only… but also…", indicating that something goes beyond what is already stated to include an additional – often more surprising or extreme – element. It emphasizes that the first thing alone would be noteworthy, but there is even more on top of it.

When used with verbs, attach ばかりか directly to the plain form.
When used with nouns, attach ばかりか directly after the noun (without だ).
ばかりか can also be used when both elements are negative, escalating the severity.
ばかりか is similar to だけでなく ("not only… but also"), but ばかりか carries a stronger sense of emphasis or surprise. It is more common in written language and formal speech, though it also appears in conversation. A slightly more formal variant is ばかりでなく.
