どうしても

どうしても is an adverb meaning "no matter what". It goes before the predicate, and what it means depends on that predicate: with a wish it is "at any cost", with a negative it is "just can't, however hard I try".

The form doesn't change between plain and polite speech.

With a wish or a need

Before 〜～たい, ひつよう必要 or a verb of insisting, どうしても says the speaker won't give way.

"Inevitably"

With an ordinary statement, どうしても says something happens whether anyone wants it or not. No effort or wish is involved.

どうしても or どうにも

With a negative, どうにも means much the same, and どうしても is the more common in conversation. Only どうしても goes with a wish.
