LingakuLingaku[noun] + と並んで [noun] + と並ぶ + [noun]
と並んで follows a noun and puts something on the same level as it: "along with", "alongside", "on a par with". It comes from ならぶ並ぶ, "to stand in a row", and it ranks the two together, usually near the top.
The usual shape is AはBと並んで, with B the better-known yardstick and the sentence ending in a ranking: だいひょう代表する, もっとも最も, ひとつ一つ, にんき人気. Two things that are merely alike don't take it; for that, use とおなじよう同じように.
These go beyond ranking two things together.
To describe a noun, use と並ぶ.
With a verb of moving or sitting, と並んで keeps its plain sense, "side by side with".
