除此之外【chúcǐ zhīwài】

除此之外 means "apart from this". 此 is a written word for "this", and it points back to the sentence before. The phrase starts the next sentence, and is neutral to written.

Like 除了…以外, it has two readings, and the adverb in the second half decides which.

"On top of this": with 还 or 也

With 还 or 也, what follows is added to what came before.

"Nothing else": with 都 or a negative

With 都, or with 没 or 不, the sentence excludes everything else.

No noun after it

此 already stands for the thing being set aside, so no other noun goes in the phrase. To name it, use 除了…以外.

除此以外 is an equivalent form.
