[sentence],更不用说 + [noun / clause] + (了)
[sentence],更别说 + [noun / clause] + (了)
更不用说 follows a statement and adds a second case that's even more obviously true, so there's no need to argue it. The first clause often has 连…都 or 都, and 了 can close the sentence.
It works in positive sentences too, where English says "not to mention".
更别说 is a shorter, more casual form.
别说 opens the sentence with the bigger case. 更不用说 comes second and adds it. The meaning is the same; the order isn't.
The case after 更不用说 has to follow from the first, not the other way round. If you can't do the easy thing, you can't do the hard one.
