[subject] + 在 + [noun] + 方面 + [verb phrase]
在 + [noun] + 方面,[clause]
在 + area + 方面 limits what follows to one area – work, study, food, safety, language. It goes before the verb, either after the subject or at the very start of the sentence.
The area is usually a short noun: 学习, 工作, 生活, 语法, 技术. 这方面 "this area" and 哪方面 "which area" are the commonest short forms.
English can put "in terms of study" at the end. 在…方面 is a prepositional phrase and can't follow the verb or adjective.
在学习上 and 在学习方面 often say the same thing. 方面 picks out one area among several, so it suits comparisons; 在…上 is shorter and more common in speech. The two don't stack.
各方面 "every respect" and 很多方面 "many respects" round out the set: 他各方面都很好.
