風【ふう】

風 (ふう) goes straight after a noun and means "-style", "in the manner of": the thing has the look or character of that noun. Before another noun it takes の, and before a verb it takes に.

A few of these have become words of their own: わふう和風 "Japanese-style", ようふう洋風 "Western-style", and こふう古風 "old-fashioned", which is a な-adjective.

こんな風に, どんな風に

After the こそあど words, 風に means "this way", "that way", "in what way". It is everyday speech, and it is often written in kana: こんなふうに.

In writing, 風 also follows a whole clause: かぜ風をよそおう装う means "make out that", "put on an air of".
