なぜなら～から

なぜなら～から gives the reason after the statement: you say what you think, start the next sentence with なぜなら, "the reason is", and close the reason with からだ or からです. The reason clause is in the plain form, whichever ending you choose.

• × なぜなら、明日試験がありますからです → なぜなら、明日試験があるからです

Closing the reason

なぜなら opens a reason, and the sentence has to end like one. Leaving off からだ sounds unfinished.

• × なぜなら、天気が悪かった。 → なぜなら、天気が悪かったからだ。

In writing, のだ or ためだ can close it instead of からだ.

なぜなら or から

Plain から puts the reason first, inside one sentence. なぜなら～から puts the statement first and argues for it in a second sentence.

Register

なぜなら belongs to essays, speeches and formal explanations, and sounds stiff in conversation. When talking, you'd say なぜかというと, or だって among friends, still ending on から.
