The pattern くする is used with い-adjectives to express the idea of making something a certain way – that is, causing a change in state. It is formed by dropping the final い from an い-adjective and adding くする.
This pattern is the い-adjective counterpart of にする, which is used with な-adjectives and nouns (e.g. しずかに静かにする, きれいにする).
Use くする when you want to say that someone actively makes something into a certain state.
The object being changed is typically marked with を.
While くする indicates that someone intentionally causes a change, くなる indicates that something changes on its own or naturally.
