または

または means "or". It goes between two nouns or noun phrases and offers either one, and it is the "or" of forms, notices, instructions and announcements.

With more than two options, list them with commas and put または before the last one.

At the start of a second sentence, または offers another way of doing the same thing.

または or か

In conversation, two nouns are joined with か. または between friends sounds like reading out a form.

Questions take それとも

When a question asks the listener to pick one of two, the word between the options is それとも, not または.
