何も～ない【なにも～ない】

何も with a negative verb means "nothing", "not anything". も goes straight after なん何, and the verb at the end is negative – the negative is what makes it "nothing".

The が or を the word would have had disappears, and も takes its place. Other particles stay in front of も, as in どこにも.

• × 何をも食べない → 何も食べない

何も, 何か or 何でも

何も goes with a negative. With a positive verb you want なんか何か, "something", or なん何でも, "anything at all".

• × 何も食べたい → 何か食べたい
• × 何もあります → 何でもあります

No need to

何も also works as an adverb meaning "there's no need to go that far". It comes before ことはない or なくても, and it is not about things at all.

The same question word + も + negative gives だれ誰も, "nobody", and どこにも, "nowhere".
