なおなお

なおなお is なお said twice, and means "all the more", "still more". It goes in front of the verb or adjective it strengthens, usually where a feeling or a result has grown with time or effort.

It is a written word with an old-fashioned ring, sometimes spelled 尚々 or 猶々. In speech and in ordinary writing, なおさら, ますます or いっそう say the same thing.

At the start of a postscript

In a traditional letter, なおなお opens a postscript: a line added after the main text, often squeezed into the margin. A modern letter or business email uses なお or ついしん追伸 in that place instead.
