に値する【にあたいする】

に値する says that something deserves an action or a judgement: "is worthy of", "is worth". It follows a noun, usually a する-noun such as そんけい尊敬 or ちゅうもく注目, or a verb in the dictionary form. It is formal and mostly written.

The verb goes straight before に, with no の in between.

• × 読むのに値する → 読むに値する

Before a noun, に値する works like any verb: しんらい信頼にあたいする値するひと人, "a person worthy of trust".

The negative に値しない says something does not deserve even that much.

に値する or 価値がある

In conversation you say かち価値がある, which takes a verb in the dictionary form or a noun with の: 読む価値がある, 一見の価値がある. に値する carries the same meaning in a written, evaluative register.
