[verb (dictionary form)] + たびに [noun] + の + たびに

Description

たびに means "every time", "whenever": each time one thing happens, the other happens too. It follows a verb's dictionary form, or a noun with の. It is also written in kanji, どに度に.

Every time I hear this song, I think of my school days.

Every time I travel, I bring back souvenirs.

Every time I see her, she's prettier than before.

The second half is something the speaker notices or feels each time: a memory, a change, a reaction. A plain daily routine does not take たびに; say it with まいあさ毎朝 or いつも.

Every time I move, I end up with more stuff.

I wash my face every morning.

× 朝起きるたびに、顔を洗う → 毎朝、顔を洗う

たびに or とき

is "when", and on its own it can mean a single occasion. たびに insists that it happens every time without fail.
