[action],+ 好 + [purpose]
[action],+ [subject] + 好 + [purpose]
好 at the head of a second clause gives the purpose of the first: "so that", "so I can". The action comes first, then the comma, then 好 and what the action makes possible. It is spoken.
If the second clause has its own subject, 好 comes after it, right before the verb.
为了 puts the purpose first. 好 is the other way round: the purpose only follows the action.
The purpose is something you hope to be able to do. For a purpose that is about avoiding trouble – "so that it doesn't" – 免得 fits better.
好 + verb also means "easy to" (好吃, 好学). Here the comma and the clause in front of it tell you which 好 it is: the purpose 好 opens a clause and points back at an action.
