だけのことはある

だけのことはある means "no wonder" or "it lives up to": a result matches the effort, price or reputation behind it. It closes a sentence and follows the plain form of a verb or an い-adjective, a な-adjective with な, or a bare noun. It is always praise.

The thing that justifies the result goes in front, and the result itself is often a separate sentence before or after. さすが at the start is common and makes the "as expected" plain.

Paying off

With a past verb, the effort or money spent was not wasted: there is something to show for it.

だけのことはある and だけあって

だけあって means the same but sits in the middle of a sentence, with the result after it. だけのことはある ends the sentence; だけのことはあって, as in the shoe sentence above, joins the two halves and is close to だけあって.

In conversation the shorter だけある is common: さすがたかい高いだけある。
