嫌いがある【きらいがある】

嫌いがある says that someone has a bad tendency: "is apt to", "has a habit of". It follows a verb in the dictionary form or the ない-form, or a noun with の. It is often written in kana, きらいがある.

Not "dislike"

This 嫌い is an old noun meaning "a leaning", and the phrase has nothing to do with disliking. It describes what the person does, not what they feel about it.

嫌いがある or 傾向がある

けいこう傾向がある is neutral and reports any pattern. 嫌いがある always criticizes: the speaker sees the habit as a fault. It does not describe a good habit.

• × 彼はよく勉強する嫌いがある → 彼はよく勉強する傾向がある

Register

嫌いがある belongs to essays, commentary and criticism, and sounds stiff in conversation. Talking about someone's habits, you'd say きごう〜がち or すぐきごう〜する.
