ならでは

ならでは follows a noun and marks something that only that noun has or could produce: "unique to", "that only X could". It is nearly always followed by の and a second noun, the thing that is special.

ならでは is praise. It says the thing is good because of where it comes from, which plain だけ ("only") does not.

At the end of a sentence

With だ or です, ならでは closes the sentence: "is something only X could do".

ならでは or 特有

とくゆう特有 also means "peculiar to", but it is neutral and takes bad traits as readily as good ones. ならでは stays with things worth admiring.

• × この病気ならではの症状 → この病気特有の症状

In older and literary writing, ならでは can also come before a negative verb, with the sense "nobody but X could": これはかれ彼ならではできないしごと仕事だ, "this is a job nobody but him could do". Modern Japanese says かれ彼にしかできない.
