Description

にあって follows a noun that describes a situation, time period, position, or set of circumstances.

Emphasizing contrast or unexpectedness

Negative form: にあっても

において: A more neutral way to say "in" or "at" (location, time, field). にあって carries more weight regarding conditions or circumstances.
