としても

としても means "even if", "even supposing": you grant a premise for the sake of argument, and the main clause holds anyway. It follows the plain form of a verb or an い-adjective, present or past; a noun or a な-adjective needs だ or だった in front of it.

The た-form is common even about the future: it pictures the event as having already happened. たとえ or かりに仮に at the start of the sentence signal the supposition early.

Leaving out だ

After a noun or a な-adjective, だ is what makes this the "even if" pattern. Without it, the noun plus として plus も means "also as" or "even as".

としても or ても

ても also means "even if", attaches to the て-form, and is the everyday choice. としても frames the condition explicitly as an assumption, often one the speaker doubts, and sounds more deliberate.
