Browser extension
Reading text in images and videos
The extension reads text that is part of a picture, such as manga, screenshots or subtitles burned into a video, and lays it over the picture as clickable words. It works without an account.
- Browser extension
Starting it
- Press Alt+Shift+OAltShiftO.
- Right-click an image and choose Read text in this image with Lingaku.
- On YouTube and Crunchyroll, click the text button on the player.
Area, image and video
A toolbar opens at the bottom of the screen with three modes:
- Area: the page freezes and you drag a frame over the text.
- Image: click an image to read it.
- Video: the video pauses and its frame is read. Play it again to remove the text.

To find the text, the picture is sent to Lingaku’s servers. Videos with copy protection cannot be captured.
