Subtitles on YouTube and Crunchyroll
Signed in, the extension shows Lingaku subtitles on YouTube and Crunchyroll. Every word in them opens the popup, and the video pauses while you read it. Lingaku is not affiliated with YouTube or Crunchyroll.

YouTube

On a video, the buttons in the top-right corner of the player turn Lingaku subtitles on, open the subtitle list, and read the text in the video. The extension remembers your choice for each channel.
The subtitles come from YouTube. When a video has none in your study language, YouTube’s automatic translation is used, which may be wrong in places.
In the subtitle list every word can be clicked, and each line has a button to play from it. When the video ends, Mark as watched records it the way Mark as read records a page.
Crunchyroll
On Crunchyroll you add the subtitle files yourself: open the subtitle list on an episode and click Choose subtitles. Files for a whole season (.srt, .vtt, .ass, or a .zip of them) can be added at once, and they are matched to their episodes by their names. The files are kept in this browser, not in your account. Use only subtitle files you have the right to use.
When the subtitles are early or late, shift them with the timing buttons under the list. The shift is remembered for the season.
Selecting words with the keyboard
