The search dialog

The search dialog finds dictionary entries, grammar points, texts, courses, lessons and decks. It also reads a text or an image pasted into it.

  • Mobile app

Opening it

Click the search icon in the top bar, or press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) anywhere on the site.

What it finds

Press Enter to search. Results are grouped into words, characters, names, grammar points, texts, courses, lessons, decks and, signed in, your own cards. ↓ moves from the box into the results.

How to write a search, the # flags, the input method and the radical lookup are explained in Dictionary search.

Reading pasted text and images

Paste several lines of text and the dialog offers Read text (Ctrl+Enter), which opens it in the reader. A single line can be opened with Read as text. Paste or drop an image, or use the image button, to read the text in it.
